Present world population is 8.2 Billion
- 2 billion people of Muslim culture
- 1.5 billion people of Hindu culture
- 1.25 billion people of Chinese culture
- 1.0 billion people of Catholic culture
By Fundamentalist view, the vast majority of the world, would not be “saved”
- This does not take into account those who are no longer living who grew up in these cultures for the last 2000 years
- It is particularly disturbing that their view of unsaved means a state of living in torment for eternity.
- This is in direct contradiction to the statement that the Creator loved the world and the message of Jesus was not to condemn it but to be saved.
The word gospel means good news. Based on the numbers alone from the above, 72% would not be facing good news.
However, there are alternatives.
- That all religions are incorrect and are not an accurate description of how things are. But this would seem to imply that the vast majority of humanity is in error of their intuitions.
- Certainly they all cannot be correct in every single statement of their tenants since many are exclusionary.
- Intuitions are not verifiable, observable. That does not mean they are invalid, but need to be examined. Are there broad terms that cross the many different statements, that is in fact are attempts to describe the indescribable
- or that the church movement has failed at its purpose. This certainly is not out of the question.
- If that is true it does call serious question of the validity of a God. This has often been the criticism who read the old Testament description of God and have conflict with actions that seem inconsistent with a loving God concept.
- This is no way excuses the New Testament movement, which in many ways, has followed a similar pattern of exclusion and at times even violent condemnation of those they deem outside.
- or that the traditional teaching of the purpose of the church is wrong. That somewhere along the line the message became confused or sidetracked.
It is the purpose of this site to present the third option for consideration.
